How can I convince my dad to let me get a different headset?

It's not like I am gonna get the astro a40's. I was either gonna get a pair of trittons or turtle beach headsets. They are all on ebay for under $75. How do I convince him to let me buy one. I do landscaping work and I have the cash to buy the Astro but there is no way he will let me get those. He doesn't really understand the point of video games but how do I convince him. The one I got with my 360 is broke and I don't want the microsoft wireless headset.
