Can anyone tell me what it is?

About 1 year ago at about 5am i noticed a star that was flashing red, green and blue! (no it's not a spaceship or a plane nor a helicopter) i read it can be something called a summer star!! i have looked at the star/ planet thur binoculars and it definatly changes colour it is amazing!! i have looked on alot of websites about the sky but nothing is mentioned about this and they are usually sites for the sky in america! i live in middle.
