Why is creationism taught along evolution in America?

Creationism is not supposed to be taught in public schools. It's against the law, but there's always those who will try to get away with it. Christians have run the show here for so many years that it's been a real battle to wrestle even small concessions from their miserly grasp. It doesn't matter what the Constitution says they believe the USA should be a christian theocracy and the bible should take precedence over the Bill of Rights. It's one or the other because unlike England where the Tudor monarchs were also the head of the church, here church and state by constitutional law are separate. The US has a long history of mistreating and mistrusting it's minorities. Atheism is a minority. It is diametrically opposed to everything the christian majority believe in. And worst of all it has been the power of the Atheist organizations combined with the ACLU which have forced Christians to back off some privileges they have erted were absolute rights like organized school supported christian prayer and nativity scenes on the court house lawn.
